The American Veteran Project was a personal photography project that lasted from 2011 - 2017. The purpose was to meet, interview, and most importantly, photograph US military veterans from World War II to present day, in line with the project's mission statement,
Recording veteran's stories today, so that others may learn tomorrow.
In total, nearly 100 veterans were photographed and interviewed before the project ended. The stories and experiences of these veterans range from the attack on Pearl Harbor and the invasion of France, to the skies over Vietnam and the barren landscapes of the Middle East. The interviews were not focused on battle stories only but spanned the entire story of a veterans' time in the military.
I'm tremendously proud of the photographs that were made through the project and incredibly thankful for all of the support to produce the images. As time passes, every veteran's portrait will be shared on this site along with their story, as told by them.
